TAXI FARE INCREASE

The District of Columbia Taxicab commission approved $1.00 fare increase per ride due to the rising cost of gasoline effective yesterday. Some of my passengers were bitching and moaning when they found out about the new fare and I can feel your pain but you have to understand that besides the rising fuel costs, my insurance, vehicle repair, dispatch fee, license & registration, the bribes at the inspection station and my hooker bills are going up also. So let's help a brother out and when you get in to my cab stop crying on my ass and pay the full fare please.

Please don't forget the homeless,

Mad Cabbie.

I just dropped $3000 on that caprice and it's running like a champ MJ! I don't take short cuts, I keep my car in a top condition even though it has high miles and I do most of the work that don't require lifts.

Wtg Mad, caprice is an awsome car, caddilac ride.If you want something to take your mind off gas prices click on Paradise driver in the side links for today Thursday, gas prices are the least of your worries.

One dollar per trip. Well that won'tbe much over the day.
Hit them for a rate increase after all the longer the trip the more the gas costs.

Of course the hooker's fee has to go up! actually it could reflect the national inflation rate...

I don't mind paying now, but I had a driver 2 days ago who wanted the money because the law was about to happen.

He didn't get it. Or a tip.

You deserve that pay increase! Actually, you deserve double what the meter says every time! I hope nobody else bitches.

A $1.00 fare hike seems kind of meager to me considering all your expenses! People will whine no matter what, tell them you can't serve cheese with that whine on account of the rising cost of doing business with them, at your service nonetheless.

Hugs,
Claire

$1 a ride is nothing. some people will complain no matter what the cost. why not give 'em something extra fr their money...something subtle and no cost to you like beautiful music on the radio station? there's this one cabby who always has classical music on his radio, and i give him twice the tip just because the music is so relaxing....

Fairfax is finally adding a $1.00 fuel surcharge, though not until June 15. We'll also be getting a fare increase later in the summer, though the details on that are yet to be worked out.

I finally decided to go the private owner and bought a Dodge Magnum. It'll probably be July, however, before it's actually on the road as a cab.

To everyone who says $1 a ride isn't much - that's true, but when you add that to a minimum fare of $6.60 and then add a rush hour charge of $1.50, maybe a bag or two at $.50 each, another passenger at $1.50...it really adds up. And that's before you start crossing zones.

Why are DC cabs so much more expensive than any other city? It's sad when NY cabs seem cheap in comparison.

Kelly, don't forget the ride from west-end all way to Union Station is only one zone $6.50, The ride from Georgetown to Woodley park is only $6.50, the ride from Woodley to Children's Hospital is $6.50, the ride from Chevy Chase Circle or Friendship Heights to Capitol Hill is only $12.60...Cabbies don't get all the short zones all day long, majority of the runs are the longer rides which pays crap along the DC traffic...and DC is not the only city which charges for extra passengers and extra luggages including New York City where the meter keeps clicking during those rush hours and you can end up paying a shit load of money!

Lugosi, How much does it cost to be a private owner in Fairfax county? Good for you Lug! no more coughing out $100/day man! Ownership! That's the American way...I hope you will buy me a beer when you get your cab ready!

The stand dues are $215 a week for P.O.'s, compared to just over $600 if you lease.
The car came in a couple of days early & I picked it up today. I have to wait for the permanent tags before I can swap them for the "For Hire" plates, so it will likely be at least a month before it's on the road as a cab.

It ain't just the one-zoners that kill. Club LT to Children's for $9,80 or my all time favourite: The Zoo to Our Lady Queen of Peace for $12--OUCH!
