DC TAXICAB COMISSION

DC Taxicab commission oversees any vehicle for hire which operates in Washington, DC and handles all the complaints. There are I think five overpaid commissioners who do nothing but have meetings just to decide on when to have the next meeting. The last final ruling they made was July of last year, at least that was the final ruling they have posted on their website.

The commissioner pulls in about $100K a year and his deputies not too far behind him and not an ounce of guilt on stealing the check from the city.

"Mad, are you crazy? Now that they know who you are, good luck on renewing your Taxi ID this year! How dare you criticize them openly like this? They will probably take you to their basement and rough you up a little bit!"

They can kiss my ass! If they try to intimidate me or pull some shit, I can defend myself, they better understand that I used to watch a lot of Court TV and I am very knowledgeable about my legal rights.

So Mr commissioner, now that congress and the President gave you the green light to make your decision to change the DC zone system in to meters or not, how about looking at that GWU taxi meter study results you had months ago and pass on your recommendation to the city? so that old fossil Carol Schwartz can sit on it for another year or so!

Please don't forget the homeless.

Mad Cabbie.

I put in a serious and very detailed complaint to those asswipes about a driver who I genuinely thought was going to bash me and a friend, and leave us in an area somewhere Northeast of Galludet, and guess what? I never heard back from them.

Those people at the DCTC are disgraceful.

You fucken rock Mad! They need to get rid of DCTC period! That was funny the way you describe how you get your legal information.

Love you Mad:

Venus.

Ok Mad Cabbie, but if they take you into the basement to beat the crap out of you, I don't think a Court TV lawyer is going to show up to help. You might try flipping through the yellow pages before you're whisked away to Guantanmo Bay.

It won't be JUDGE JUDY SITTING UP THERE. A client who defends himself has a fool for a lawyer.
Sometimes I feel like I am turning into that guy from Curb Your Enthuiasm. Dont stand for no shit.

If the taxi commission can't take a little heat, they should get out of the kitchen. Everything about DC is set up so some folks make a LOT of money. Hint: it ain't us taxi riders...and taxi drivers.

"old fossil Carol Schwartz"?? LOL

You go, Mad Cabbie

Yo Mad I have been meaning to ask you this for awhile now did your beloved DC Taxi Commision ever figure out what to do about cab owners who are buying new cabs but can not change the registration from their old cab to new cabs? I guess that partially sucks for the cab companies a little because they can only attract cab owners who are already owners not any one brand new how ever if you live out side Washington DC and want to get into that business does that mean you will be a lease driver from now until who knows when so does that mean like all the cab companies get increased revenue because now they have more leasers even though leasing is not real big in Washington DC. Really its stupid because its a cab not a personal car its okay that its registered in DC I guess because thats where it does business but they should let you register a new cab any time you want because would'nt that be good for the city to have nice new or newer cabs not cabs that are 15 and 20 years old?

Mad, why don't you go into city politics? Become an alderman or a run for city council. I think you could do great things with that.

Bet you wish you had a right hook like this NY hack.

Careful what you wish for: The thing about meters is that cabs have to periodically go through meter course. Here in Fairfax it's done every six months. But with less than 700 cabs in the county, it doesn't usually take too long.
DC has how many thousands of cabs? And with the rampant inefficiency that plagues every aspect of the DC government, it'll take you several days to get through each meter course.

OK - Mad has gone underground. My imagination has the DC Taxicab Commission being the same sort of euphamism as New Jersey's "Waste Managment".

Hi Mad Cabbie. In my last three DC cab rides, I had one cab driver that gave excellent service (and of course got tipped ridiculously well), but then the other two tried to rip me off (and therefore got exactly the correct fare--no tip). I was just curious as to your experiences concerning the percentage of good cabbies to crooked cabbies in DC. Two out of three seems like a bad ratio to me, but I'm sure such a small sample size isn't representative. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
